The choice of aerial acrobatic sports for children should be made according to various factors, some of which may be:

  1. the participation of a friend in this sport,
  2. the promotion of the sport after a certain success,
  3. the presence of a club or a sports center somewhere close to home as well as
  4. the liking and the involvement of parents in a particular sport in the past.

The parents’ attitude on what sport their child will choose depends very much on the expectations they have on their child’s progress as an athlete.

Thus, aerial acrobatics sports and pole fitness is a rather difficult choice for both children and parents, and this usually happens for many reasons some of which are the following:

  • The fear about a sport you don’t know because it is not so widespread
  • Fear of injury
  • Not enough information about where to take up this sport

However, children who either by chance or by choice eventually took up aerial sports and pole dance report that through their participation they were generously offered acceptance, fun and joy. (check out the findings of Vertical Wise’ survey here).

Participation in pole dancing makes children and especially teenagers to feel special. It is a cool sport and it enhances strength, flexibility and endurance. Moreover, it combines elements of dance and acrobatics, something which is a big challenge.

The surveys and also the personal statements of aerial acrobatic sports athletes show that due to its diversity and complexity, this sport has earned huge acceptance in recent years.

It is also a great challenge for those children who either have tried several other sports and grew bored of it, or they are, by nature, children who are highly energetic and dynamic and the nature of the sport fits them perfectly.

Through pole dancing, kids experience feelings of joy, euphoria and competency. They amuse themselves through such training procedures, where the child understands the personal improvement and progress and they build their self-confidence.

Some stereotypical perceptions, which dictate that the sport is dangerous or exclusively connected to dancing, have been abandoned and they have been replaced by the plethora of young athletes who are participating in European and international contests by competing with countries that have a huge tradition of rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.

Everyone understands that through the participation of children in aerial and pole sports develop:

  • knowledge,
  • education and
  • completion of the child as a personality.

Pole dancing athletes have direct (positive body image, improving fitness, avoid obesity), and indirect benefits (socialization, feelings of competence-joy, increase self-confidence). Moreover, they experience less feelings of tension, sadness, fatigue, confusion, anxiety and high energy levels, self-esteem and self-confidence.

Aerial acrobatics and pole fitness sports is definitely very entertaining and that is why it attracts a lot of people because you work out and have fun at the same time! Especially for children, it is like a playground because they climb or turn upside down!

So when combining exercise with fun there is more willingness and good mood. Consequently, children engaged in such an interesting, entertaining and attractive sport increase their chances to devote themselves to it with all the benefits that this entails.
